Overview
Getting Started is where a new user learns JAM and takes their first steps. It is tailored to what you do: there is one Getting Started page per capability you have access to - Coaching, Call Scoring, Assistant, or Admin - and each opens on Welcome to [capability]. A journey card at the top guides your first actions, and the sections below explain what the capability does.Opening Getting Started
Click Getting Started in the sidebar. New users also land here automatically after signing in, and stay here until they finish or dismiss the journey - once that’s done, JAM sends you to your capability’s home page instead. If you have more than one capability, the capability switcher at the top of the navigation lets you move between their Getting Started pages. If you don’t see a capability you expect, ask your admin to unlock it.Working through your journey
The journey card - headed Getting Started - lists the guided steps for your capability and shows your progress as “X of N completed”. Each step has a short description and a button that takes you straight to the right place:- Coaching - Try a mission, Visit the course library, Customize a track, View your team, Create an assignment, Monitor your team’s progress.
- Call Scoring - Explore your scorecards, Create or edit a scorecard, Score a call, Track performance.
- Assistant - Test the assistant, Set up your organization, Connect your tools, Train your assistant, Talk with your assistant, Review your assistant’s work, Review your team’s activity.
- Admin - Set up your organization, Create teams, Invite users.
You only see steps your role can act on. Steps shared across capabilities are
tracked once - completing or skipping a shared step counts everywhere it
appears.
Skipping a step
Not every step applies to everyone. Use Skip This Step on any step you don’t need - it counts toward your progress the same as completing it, so a skipped step won’t hold the journey open.Dismissing the card
Done with the guide? Click Dismiss on the journey card. JAM asks you to confirm (Yes, dismiss), and the card is dismissed only for the capability you’re on - other capabilities keep theirs. The Getting Started page itself never disappears: it stays in the sidebar, so you can reopen it and pick the steps back up anytime.Exploring the capability sections
Below the journey card, each Getting Started page explains its capability in plain sections with their own action buttons - for example, Coaching has Create Roleplays, Coach Your Team, and Practice Makes Perfect, each linking to the matching part of the app. Info cards (such as How Coaching Makes a Difference) summarise the value, and a One Platform, Multiple Capabilities section points you to the capability switcher. At the bottom, Ready to get started? Talk to a founder! offers a Book a call link if you’d like a walkthrough. What happens next
- Finish or dismiss the journey and JAM lands you on your capability’s home page on future sign-ins instead of Getting Started.
- Reopen Getting Started from the sidebar at any time - completed steps stay ticked, so you always know what’s left.
- Switch capabilities from the switcher to see a separate journey and set of sections for each.
- For a refresher on scores, personas, and how practice works, see Getting Help in JAM.
Troubleshooting
I dismissed the card and want it back
I dismissed the card and want it back
Dismissing only hides the journey card for that capability - it never
removes the page. Open Getting Started from the sidebar to continue the
steps.
A step I expected is missing
A step I expected is missing
Steps are gated by your role. If a step needs a permission you don’t have,
it won’t appear - ask your admin if you think you should have access.
I don't see the capability switcher
I don't see the capability switcher
The switcher appears only when you have more than one capability. If you
expect another one, ask your admin to unlock it for your organization.
