For Candidates - Assessment Guide

This document answers common questions about completing your AI roleplay assessment with Jam.

🚀 Getting Started

Q: How do I access my assessment?
A: You'll receive an email invitation to the Jam app. Click the link to sign up and log in at app.wejam.ai. Your assigned roleplay challenge(s) will appear on your dashboard. If you don't see them, check the course catalog.

Q: How long will this take?
A: The complete assessment typically takes 10-15 minutes. Each roleplay round takes about 4-8 minutes, and you'll need to complete each scenario at least twice.

Q: What if I can't complete it right away?
A: You can complete the assessment at your own pace, but check with your hiring contact if there's a specific deadline. You can log out and return later - your progress is saved.

Q: What technology do I need?
A: You need:
  • A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • A working microphone
  • A quiet space where you can speak freely
  • Stable internet connection

🎯 Understanding the Assessment

Q: What is an AI roleplay assessment?
A: You'll have voice-based conversations with an AI that plays the role of a customer (e.g., a potential client, museum owner, property owner). You play the sales role. The conversation simulates a real sales situation where you demonstrate your communication and sales skills.

Q: How is my performance evaluated?
A: The AI analyzes your conversation for specific sales behaviors and skills relevant to the role. However, a human hiring manager always makes the final hiring decision - the AI just provides structured feedback to support their evaluation.

Q: What matters most - my score or my improvement?
A: Most companies are especially interested in how you learn and improve between rounds. Your ability to take feedback and apply it in the next round demonstrates coachability and adaptability - key traits for sales success.

Q: How many times should I complete each roleplay?
A: You must complete each scenario at least twice:
  • First round: Show how you naturally handle the situation
  • Second round: Apply the feedback you received and demonstrate improvement
You're welcome to practice more rounds if you'd like to further improve, but two rounds per scenario is the minimum expectation.

Q: What happens between rounds?
A: After each round, you'll receive AI-generated feedback analyzing your performance. Read this feedback carefully - it highlights what went well and suggests specific areas for improvement. Use this feedback to adjust your approach in the next round.

🔧 Technical Help

Q: The AI doesn't hear me / I have no audio - what should I check?
A: Three common causes:
  1. Missing microphone permission - Check your browser settings and allow Jam to access your microphone
  1. Muted microphone - Ensure your microphone is unmuted
  1. Other software blocking access - Close other applications (Teams, Zoom, Google Meet) that might be using your microphone

Q: The transcript doesn't match what I said / transcript quality is poor
A: To improve transcript quality:
  • Use a good-quality microphone (headset recommended)
  • Find a quiet space without background noise
  • Speak slowly and clearly
  • Minimize heavy dialect or slang where possible
Note: Like all speech-to-text technology (similar to Teams or Google Meet), transcripts aren't perfect but are generally ~95% accurate.

Q: Who do I contact if I have technical issues?
A: Email support@wejam.ai and CC your hiring contact so they're aware. Describe the issue you're experiencing and include any error messages.

🔐 Your Data & Privacy Rights

Q: What data is collected during my assessment?
A: Jam collects:
  • Your audio recording of the roleplay conversation
  • The transcript of your conversation
  • Performance scores and AI-generated feedback
  • Your account information (name, email)

Q: Who can see my results?
A: Only people directly involved in your hiring process at the company you're applying to can access your results. Other candidates cannot see your performance.

Q: How long is my data kept?
A: Your assessment data is automatically deleted after 6 months. This ensures compliance with data protection regulations and limits data retention to the hiring process timeframe.

Q: Is this GDPR compliant?
A: Yes. Jam is operated by Jam Technologies GmbH (Germany) and fully complies with GDPR. By accepting the assessment invitation, you consent to data processing solely for the purpose of evaluating your application.

Q: Can I request my data or have it deleted?
A: Yes. You have the right to:
  • Request access to your data
  • Request corrections to your data
  • Request early deletion of your data
  • Raise concerns about how your data is used
Contact support@wejam.ai and CC your hiring contact to exercise these rights.

Q: Is the hiring decision automated by AI?
A: No. While AI helps analyze your communication skills in the roleplay, a human hiring manager always reviews your results and makes the final hiring decision. The AI provides structured feedback to support human decision-making, not replace it.

Q: Is my data shared with other companies or used for other purposes?
A: No. Your data is used exclusively for your hiring process at the company you're applying to. It is never shared with third parties or used for any other purpose.

💡 Tips for Success

Q: How should I prepare?
A:
  • Review the scenario briefing carefully before starting
  • Find a quiet space where you won't be interrupted
  • Have a glass of water nearby
  • Treat it like a real sales conversation - be natural and authentic
  • Don't overthink it - your first round is meant to show your baseline skills

Q: What if I make a mistake in my first round?
A: That's expected and fine! The first round establishes your baseline. The second round is where you demonstrate your ability to learn from feedback and improve. Companies value growth mindset and coachability.

Q: Should I try to "game" the AI or say specific keywords?
A: No. Be authentic. The AI evaluates your overall conversation skills and behaviors, not keyword matching. Hiring managers can tell when someone is being artificial, and authenticity is valued in sales roles.

Q: Can I see example conversations or practice beforehand?
A: No practice materials are provided - we want to see your natural skills. The scenario briefing gives you all the context you need. Trust your sales instincts and experience.
